Adults Beginner Fencing Class

Tired of those boring stretches on the treadmill? Yoga too zen? Try fencing! It’s a great workout that challenges your mind, too. And yes, adults can compete: there are even specific divisions for fencers 40-plus, 50s, 60s, and even 70s! Even if you choose not to compete, it’s a sport you can enjoy your entire lifetime.

We have fun introductory classes for all men and women of all levels and physical abilities. Our Start-Up program teaches basic fencing behavior, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and of course the basic terminology, footwork, offensive and defensive actions, including bouting strategy with actual fencing.

In the beginner classes we will teach techniques for all three swords; Foil, Epee and Saber. These classes are for true beginners who have had no experience with fencing.

Each athlete is encouraged to stay in Utah Fencing Club at each particular level until they, their family, and their coach agree that the athlete is ready to move to the next level. For example: Some younger athletes this progression may take several months per level and this is normal. Conversely, some older or more experienced athletes may require only 1 month in each class.
